Blue Meanies LC Information
Liquid culture syringes (also sometimes called ISO’s) contain mushroom genetics that are more stabilized than normal multispore syringes (MSS). Great care has been taken to isolate the strongest, fastest, and most hardy genetics that will provide vigorous and more consistent research under the microscope. Multispore syringes contain a great deal of genetic diversity, and therefore can present a multitude of different phenotypes. On the other hand, liquid culture syringes have been stabilized in order to present a more uniform phenotype which will provide the most optimized and consistent research.
Blue Meanies are a well known and popular variety of Cubensis due to both its reliability and strong performance under the microscope. No one is 100% certain where Blue Meanies originated from, although many agree that they were first found in Australia. Australia is a hot spot for many mushroom species and experts estimate that there are 20-30 psychoactive species that can be found on the continent!
The reason this Cubensis variety was dubbed as “Blue Meanies” is due to the fact that they bruise blue very easily. For a long time, it was a mystery as to how and why magic mushrooms turned blue. But with recent studies, it was discovered that a series of reactions occur with the psilocybin when the mushroom is disturbed. The psilocybin in the disturbed area begins to oxidize into psilocin and a series of chain reactions follow.

Microscopic Features
Blue Meanie spores are known to be dark purple to brown in color. The spores are subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on 4-spored basidia. Prints are generally 25-75mm in diameter and the caps can be a convex or conic shape. Blue Meanies are also generally good spore depositors.
