Hello and welcome to Sonoran Spores- we’re so glad you’re here! We’re a small spore company run by a husband and wife team based out of Phoenix, AZ. We provide microscopy spore samples, gourmet mushroom cultures, mycology supplies, and San Pedro Cactus. This company was born out of our passion for growing mushrooms, for both food and medicine, and slowly morphed into a devotion to spread the mushroom love as far and wide as we possibly can.

We first began growing mushrooms in 2018, shortly after the two of us first met and it instantly became an obsession. A productive hobby that brought us closer together and helped strengthen our relationship and bond. We immersed ourselves in the mycological world and began learning everything we could.

Then in 2019, after learning the in-and-outs of not only mushroom cultivation, but genetics and lab work, we created Sonoran Spores. It got its start on the popular spore trading and vending forums on Reddit (RIP r/sporetraders). Over the years we’ve gained a reputation for clean, healthy spores, a large selection of species and varieties, as well as fast, friendly, and reliable service. 

Fast forward to today and tens of thousands of our products have been sent nationwide and to a multitude of countries around the world! All of our mushroom work- from spores to cultures- is done in a lab setting in front of HEPA filters that catch 99.97% of particles in the air, which creates a contaminate free environment. This means that you know that your spores or your culture will be as clean as possible. 

Due to the overlap between mushroom and cacti folks, we also began learning about the sacred Trichocereus cacti- San Pedro and its many magical cacti cousins like Bridgesii and Peruvianus. These cacti have been used for thousands of years as traditional medicine by shamans in South American Andean culture. We are lucky to live in a place like Arizona where we can grow these cacti easily and have over time created a magic cactus farm. We have been offering cuttings, seedlings, and even whole rooted cacti since 2020! 

Our goal is to make both mushroom and cacti genetics as accessible as possible. Everyone deserves to experience the magical world of plant medicine.
