Lizard King ISO Information

Isolated spore syringes, also known as ISO syringes, contain mushroom genetics that are more stabilized than a normal multispore syringe (MSS). Great care has been taken to isolate the strongest, fastest, and most hardy genetics that will provide vigorous and more consistent research under the microscope. Multispore syringes contain a great deal of genetic diversity, and therefore can present a multitude of different phenotypes. On the other hand, isolated spore syringes have been stabilized in order to present only one phenotype which will provide the most optimized and consistent research.

Lizard King is another Cubensis variety that originates from Mexico (similar to Mazatapec and Huautla). It’s named after its discoverer, a person who went under the pseudonym “The Lizard King”. An interesting side note is that The Lizard King is also well known for collecting other mushroom specimens and spores that are highly regarded in the microscopy community.

A unique characteristic of the Lizard King variety is that when it was first found in Mexico, it was growing on a mixture of wood chips and horse manure. This is an interesting feat because Cubensis mushrooms are not commonly observed growing on wood chips. With this in mind, we can say that the genetics are very adaptable and resilient which makes them great spores for any skill level. On top of that, Lizard King genetics are very dependable, widely known for providing consistent research underneath the scope, which is why it remains a staple Cubensis variety.

Microscopic Features

Lizard King spore strain have dark purplish to black spores measuring approximately 13×8 micrometers in size. The spores are subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are also present on a 4-spored basidia. The caps vary from 25-50mm in diameter with a conical to flat shape and are generally medium spore printers.
