Origin information

You guessed it! Another cubensis variety named after the area it was fist found in. Whether Texas Orange Caps origin is from Texas is unknown, but that’s where they were first found. Though they can be found growing throughout lots the south west and have even been found in parts of norther Mexico. However, its important not to confuse this strain with the very similar Texas Yellow Cap.

In addtion to being named after where they were first found, they are also named after their colors. As one could expect, Texas orange caps have orange caps. More so than the typical golden brown or tan that other cubensis exhibit. They also tend to be a little bit shorter and fatter than other cubensis mushrooms. But, don’t let their size fool you they are still very resilient as shown through their strong, aggressive mycelium. This makes it great for first time spore handers as it is tough against contamination.

Texas Orange Cap spores have been around since about the mid 90’s. Yet, they have had a significant resurgence in popularity in the spore community over the past few years. This is because many of the traits it exhibits are favorable to microscopist. Put these spores under the microscope and see what all the fuss is about after you buy these syringes!
