Disclaimers
When buying Panaeolus cambodginiensis “Sanchez” spore swabs, be aware that they’re considered “active spores” which are for microscopy purposes only. DO NOT CONTACT US ABOUT ANYTHING REGARDING CULTIVATING OR GERMINATING ACTIVE SPORES.
Shipping is unavailable to California, Idaho, & Georgia. These 3 states strictly prohibit the possession of spores from psilocybin and also psilocin producing mushroom species. Orders to these states are refused and subsequently voided. Any payments made for orders to CA, ID, or GA will incur a $5 cancellation fee.
The provided images are for informational and educational purposes only and are used as a reference point only. Sonoran Spores acquires all spores and photos from outside, trusted sources in a legal manner. We do not condone or participate in the cultivation of psilocybin or psilocin producing mushroom species.
When you buy Pan Cam “Sanchez” swabs, spore visibility is dependent on the characteristics of the spores themselves. As a result, not all spore swabs will look the same visibly. Despite any visible differences, they’re still viable for microscopy research.
Panaeolus Cambodginiensis “Sanchez” Information
Panaeolus cambodginiensis (also goes by Pan Cam) is a lesser known psilocybin & psilocin containing mushroom species. It was first described in 1979 with specimens being found growing off of water buffalo dung in Cambodia. However, it was not considered to be its own species at this time.
An interesting part of this species’ history is that researchers first believed it was a strain of Panaeolus tropicalis as both species look relatively similar and also have similar looking spores. These visual similarities make it easy to confuse the two. Ultimately, with further study it was determined that the P. cambodginiensis was indeed its own separate species.
Over time, Pan Cam became a highly domesticated species with stable genetics and low variability. The “Sanchez” variety is just one domesticated genetic line of this species. Another well known genetic line is “Sandose”.
In nature, they fruit in the spring or during rainy seasons on dung (most commonly water buffalo or other cattle) or heavily enriched soil. Although they were first discovered in Cambodia, they can also be found growing in Hawaii, Florida, Mexico, Peru, and Nicaragua.
Pan Cam “Sanchez” spores are the perfect addition to a serious collector’s library. If you’re familiar with working with Pan Cyans or Pan Tropicalis, then you’ll have no problem with these spores under the microscope.

Microscopic Features
Pan Cam “Sanchez” spores are dark purple to black in color. They are 11-13 microns and appear transparent underneath the microscope. Additionally, the spores themselves are lemon shaped and smooth. Under magnification, there is a large, centrally located germ pore that is visible. Pan Cam spores are most commonly present on a 4-spored basidium, however they are sometimes observed on 2-spored basidium.
The caps of this species start out as conic to convex and then as it matures they become hemispheric until it becomes nearly a flat plane. Young primordia are chocolate brown to red in color, and then fades to a lighter brown-yellow with maturity.
