Subcubensis ISO Information

Isolated spore syringes, also known as ISO syringes, contain mushroom genetics that are more stabilized than a normal multispore syringe (MSS). Great care has been taken to isolate the strongest, fastest, and most hardy genetics that will provide vigorous and more consistent research under the microscope. Multispore syringes contain a great deal of genetic diversity, and therefore can present a multitude of different phenotypes. On the other hand, isolated spore syringes have been stabilized in order to present only one phenotype which will provide the most optimized and consistent research.

This species is incredibly similar to Psilocybe cubensis, in fact, they are considered to be the “pan tropical sister species” to Psilocybe cubensis. Although to the naked eye they appear the same, the difference is that Psilocybe subcubensis has considerably smaller spores than Psilocybe cubensis. This species was first described by Gaston Guzman, a mycologist from Mexico.

Microscopic Features

Dark purple to brownish spores, subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia. Spores are generally 8 – 17.3 microns in diameter and pretty good spore depositors.
