McKennaii ISO Information

Isolated spore syringes, also known as ISO syringes, contain mushroom genetics that are more stabilized than a normal multispore syringe (MSS). Great care has been taken to isolate the strongest, fastest, and most hardy genetics that will provide vigorous and more consistent research under the microscope. Multispore syringes contain a great deal of genetic diversity, and therefore can present a multitude of different phenotypes. On the other hand, isolated spore syringes have been stabilized in order to present only one phenotype which will provide the most optimized and consistent research. 

The actual origin and history of this variety is a mystery, however it should be assumed that it is cultivated genetic line not from a wild population. McKennaii was named in honor of perhaps one of the most well known psychonauts and countercultural icons: Terance McKenna. Terance McKenna is an writer on ethnobotany (writer of Food of the Gods, The Archaic Revival, Sacred Mushrooms and the Law, among others), is the creator of the Stoned Ape Theory, and was overall a very vocal supporter and advocate of our human right to use naturally occurring psychedelic plants and mushrooms. 

Perhaps these mushroom genetics carry on the spirit of McKenna and his beliefs as they are strong and vigorous underneath the microscope. They are also characteristically very resistant to contamination and produces reliable research that any mycologists- beginner and advanced alike- would be pleased with. 

Microscopic Features

The spores from McKennaii mushrooms can vary in color from dark purple to black. They’re subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on a 4-spored basidia. The caps range from 40-60mm in diameter, rarely being smaller, with a convex to conic shape.
