Although it hasn’t been around as long as some of the other Cubensis varieties, Jedi Mind Fuck has become very popular in the microscopy community. It is has quickly become a staple variety as both beginner and advanced researchers have come to love it. It’s name alone often intrigues people and after studying the spores, you’ll love it even more! 

Experts consider Jedi Mind Fuck as a “next generation” strain of Cubensis as it was first discovered in the early 2000’s. A mycologist called Myco Joe found the first specimens growing on a pile of dung in Georgia (similarly to Golden Teachers). Those first specimens had very large caps and stems. After printing the caps, Myco Joe also discovered that they were very heavy spore producers that deposited extremely dark colored spores. These favorable characteristics motivated Myco Joe to continue to isolate the strain and keep the genetics clean until it was finally released to the microscopy community.

These HEPA filters have an efficiency rating of 99.97%. Meaning that the filter removes 99.97% of particles in the air. To make the actual spore solution, we take clean spores and mix them with sterile distilled water. Then, a magnetic stirrer properly mixes the solution to ensure an even distribution of spores throughout the solution.

Microscopic Features

Jedi Mind Fuck spores have extremely dark purple to black spores which are approximately 13 x 8 micrometers in size. The spores are subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on a 4-spored basidia. The caps are 40-60mm in diameter with a convex to conic shape and are generally very heavy spore depositors.
