Chodewave Liquid Culture Syringe Information

Liquid culture syringes (also sometimes called ISO’s) contain mushroom genetics that are more stabilized than normal multispore syringes (MSS). Great care has been taken to isolate the strongest, fastest, and most hardy genetics that will provide vigorous and more consistent research under the microscope. Multispore syringes contain a great deal of genetic diversity, and therefore can present a multitude of different phenotypes. On the other hand, isolated spore syringes have been stabilized in order to present a more uniform phenotype which will provide the most optimized and consistent research.

Chodewave is a newly introduced P. Cubensis varieties to the mycology community. Interestingly, it is a hybrid of the two varieties “Tidal wave” and “APE.” Its unique features include its fat and short fruits with a brownish/goldish cap. The caps rarely fully open and become wavy, so this means the spores are difficult to acquire. So not only are these new genetics, but the spores are also hard to come by. This means that these swabs are that much more valuable! By buying these swabs you can be one of the first mycologist to own and study these spores. 

Microscopic Features

Chodewave spores are dark purple to brownish. The spores are also subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on 4-spored basidia. Additionally, the caps are 30-50mm in diameter with a convex to little conic shape. Prints are generally not dropped from the cap and they are generally poor spore providers.
