When you buy ATL #7 swabs, spore visibility is dependent on the characteristics of the spores themselves. As a result, not all spore swabs will look the same visibly. Despite any visible differences, they’re still viable for microscopy research.

ATL #7 Spore Information

This a Psilocybe Galindoi variety known as ATL#7, with the original sample being from Georgia.  With no similar species having descriptions in Georgia, scientist assumed to be Psilocybe Atlantis. Then, Psilocybe expert (meaning to be an expert on the fungus genus psilocybe) Gaston Guzman examined a sample. He was unsure about the previous assumption. However could not quite put his finger on the correct identity and it remained a mystery.
 
Later a comparison from the samples got published. Consequently, it was upholding what Guzman had found previously. Except now we had some theories for what it may be. Although it wasn’t Psilocybe Atlantis the exact identity still was not known. It was stated its very closely related species to a mexicanae. The genetic line also closely resembles Psilocybe Galindoi. These mushroom genetics have remained a mystery until recently. When mycologist Alan Rockefeller released his genetic sequencing information. There he sates that the line is actually a Tampanensis. Regardless, the strain will be fun to research to see what conclusions you come to as you also try to solve the mystery!
 
The ATL #7 mushroom also has interesting fruit. This is because they are sclerotia forming species. These are truffles that grow amongst the fruits. ATL #7 fruits are a brown/redish color that start at the stem and go up to the cap. The cap can often be a little bit darker brown in the center. Its cap sizes range from small to large with a convex shape, and as it matures the cap flattens.
 
All #7 is one of the most interesting mushrooms for microscopist as there is a lot of mystery surrounding it. Not only that but its unique fruiting also gives much to learn from these spores! You don’t want to miss out!

Microscopic Features

ATL #7 mushrooms have dark purple and gray color spores. The ATL #7 basidia dimensions are 18.2-24.1 x 7.4-9.5 um. They are also 4-spored, ventricose and hyaline. Their Pleurocystidia dimensions are14.2-20.6 x 6.9-8.5 um, hyaline, fusoidampullaceous and have with short necks as well.

Climate

Subtropical. These mushrooms are known to thrive in subtropical climates places where summers get hot and humid, and the winters are mild. Usually these climates are found between the latitudes of 25 degrees and 35 degrees and the southeast side of all continents.
