Mazatapec Spores Information

Mazatapec is a Cubensis variety with a very interesting history. To begin with, it originated in the Oaxaca mountains in central Mexico. The mushroom was ceremoniously used by the Mazatec people, an indigenous group living in the area. They used the mushrooms in sacred ceremonies to connect with spirits and the divine, but also to heal their ailments.

Fast forward to the 1950’s, researcher R. Gordon Wasson traveled to Oaxaca to study and write about the Mazatec tribe and their mushroom ceremonies. While there, he met Maria Sabina, a Mazatec medicine woman. She taught him about the mushrooms and their uses. Soon after, in 1957 Wasson writes an article in TIME magazine about his experiences in Oaxaca, and more importantly about the, magic mushrooms.

At this point, Mazatapec becomes the first Psilocybin species introduced to the Western world. This fact is why these spores are so popular and should be a part of every spore collector’s library! On top of that, it is great for both novice and advanced researchers.
