To ensure the cleanest possible products, all of our MVP spore swabs are made and packaged in front of Laminar Flow Hoods with HEPA filters (99.97% efficiency rating). The spore swabs are made by swabbing the spores directly and resealing the swabs in sterile packaging.

T.A.T. “MVP” Mushroom Spore Swab Pack

“MVP” spores swabs are “active spores” which are for microscopy or artistic purposes. We will not complete your order if you contact us regarding the cultivation of active spores. Similarly, for legal reasons if you mention cultivating active spores or ask for cultivating advice, you will be subsequently banned from the site.

These spores are from a species that produces psilocybin and psilocin. For legal reasons they can only ship to 47 out of the 50 United States. Shipping is unavailable to California, Idaho, and Georgia.

Sonoran Spores acquires these spores and photos from outside, trusted sources in a legal manner.  Further, Sonoran Spores does not condone or participate in the cultivation of psilocybin/psilocin producing or “active” species. Sonoran Spores also does not have any mycelium or fruiting bodies of psilocybin and psilocin producing species. We will not sell any products containing this so do not ask.

Spore Visibility Disclaimer: When you buy “MVP” mushroom genetics spores, visibility is dependent on the characteristics of the spores themselves. As a result, not all spore swabs will look the same visually. All swabs are unique and may not look identical to each other or the picture above. Despite these visible differences, spore swabs are still viable for microscopy research.

“MVP” Spores Information

“MVP” stands for Most Valued Producer. It is a strain that comes from the cross of “OG TAT” and Melmac (this genetic line is also referred to as the True Albino Melmac, or TAM project). Despite it being a part of the TAT genetic line, MVP mushroom genetics are NOT true albino. Even though it is not an albino, it’s still interesting to study because it’s distinct from the 2 varieties that created it. However, later down the line it gave way to an albino mutation known as Albino MVP (AMVP).

True Albino Teachers (TAT) have become extremely popular within the microscopy community in the last year or so. It’s an entirely new genetic line that was first started by Jik Fibs. OG TAT is what started it all. It’s an albino mutation observed in 5 specimens in a tub of Golden Teachers. Jik Fibs then took samples from those albinos and began to isolate the genetics. Soon, it was completely isolated and produced albino mushrooms every time. Following this was the creation of the Facebook group called the “TAT syndicate.” From there, the TAT Syndicate would slowly start stabilizing and releasing these new genetics to a select group of very trusted individuals. We are proud to know some of these individuals and now carry these rare genetics that have gained popularity over the last year.

In order to provide you with the cleanest possible products, we make and package all of the OG TAT spore swabs in front of Laminar Flow Hoods with HEPA filters. These HEPA filters have an efficiency rating of 99.97%. Meaning that the filter removes 99.97% of particles in the air.

Microscopy Features:

The MVP spore strain have dark purplish to black spores. The spores are subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on a 4-spored basidia. They are approximately 13×8 micrometers in size. The caps are 10-20mm in diameter with a conical to ovate shape and are relatively light spore printers.

Research Difficulty

Extremely Light Depositor Mushrooms that typically have problems with producing spores, either because of genetic lineage or species variability. Typically these mushrooms produces spores on 50 percent or less of fully mature fruits and rarely drop them from the gills.
