Bridgesii Information
Trichocereus bridgesii or commonly known as “Bolivian Torch” is a fast growing species of columnar cacti that originates in Bolivia. Their natural habitat is drier and more desert-like compared to San Pedro, meaning the Bolivian Torch does not need as much water as their San Pedro cousins but will still grow almost as quickly. Bridgesii are highly sought after by ornamental cactus collectors around the world. They are coveted for their beautiful green/blue skin and bright yellow/golden spines, as well as their huge, white flowers.
Lotusland Information
Lotusland is a coveted cultivar Bridgesii that is also known as the original Melted Wax Bridgesii. It’s originally sourced from Ganna Walska Lotusland, is a stunning public garden in Montecito, CA. However, It’s commonly referred to as “Melted Wax” because of its beautiful and subtle tendency to monstrose.Â
Some refer to it as a semi- or partial monstrose because it is not quite as extreme as a typical monstrose mutation. But, it just makes it all the more unique. When it displays its partial monstrose it looks like a cactus made of melting candle wax. Another interesting thing about Lotusland is that it is a heavy rib shifter, meaning it commonly adds and drops a rib. In our experience, it likes to drop down to 4 ribs (also known as 4-winds). It’s truly beautiful and a one of a kind cultivar!

Because it’s a mid cutting it can be planted vertically or horizontally. Horizontal planting (AKA “log style“) can cause a delay in pupping, but it will allow it to produce many more pups. This cut already has a decent amount of root nubs poking out that will help it root much more quickly.Â
