When you buy TAT MVP, spore visibility is dependent on the characteristics of the spores themselves. As a result, not all spore swabs will look the same visibly. Despite any visible differences, they’re still viable for microscopy research.

TAT MVP Mushroom Spores Information

“MVP” stands for Most Valued Producer. It is a strain that comes from the cross of “OG TAT” and Melmac (this genetic line is also referred to as the True Albino Melmac, or TAM project). Despite it being a part of the TAT genetic line, MVP mushroom genetics are NOT true albino. Even though it is not an albino, it’s still interesting to study because it’s distinct from the 2 varieties that created it. However, later down the line it gave way to an albino mutation known as Albino MVP (AMVP). 

True Albino Teachers (TAT) have become extremely popular within the microscopy community in the last year or so. It’s an entirely new genetic line that was first started by Jik Fibs. OG TAT is what started it all. It’s an albino mutation observed in 5 specimens in a tub of Golden Teachers. Jik Fibs then took samples from those albinos and began to isolate the genetics. Soon, it was completely isolated and produced albino mushrooms every time. Following this was the creation of the Facebook group called the “TAT syndicate.” From there, the TAT Syndicate would slowly start stabilizing and releasing these new genetics to a select group of very trusted individuals. We are proud to know some of these individuals and now carry these rare genetics that have gained popularity over the last year.

Microscopy Features:

The MVP spore strain have dark purplish to black spores. The spores are subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on a 4-spored basidia. They are approximately 13×8 micrometers in size. The caps are 10-20mm in diameter with a conical to ovate shape and are relatively light spore printers.
