Stargazer Spores Information

It’s interesting that Stargazer spores are not nearly as well known as Golden Teachers or Penis Envy, however it has been in the mycology scene for just as long. This variety also goes by the name “Inca Star Gazers” as it hails from the Andes Mountains near the Inca Ruins of Machu Picchu. While there is no concrete connection between the ancient people of the Andes and this variety, it is fun to think of the possibility, nonetheless.

Not only were Stargazers first discovered growing near such an ancestral place, but this variety is also mentioned in Paul Stamets and Jeff Clinton’s book The Mushroom Cultivator which was published all the way back in the far away year of 1983! At the time, this book was the holy grail for at home mycology, one of the first sparks introducing people to the amazing and magical world of mushrooms.

The spores themselves lead to introspective research underneath the microscope, some may even say spiritual or mystical. An added bonus is how easy they are to study. They are definitely a great variety to check out as a beginner.

In nature, Stargazer spores produce beautiful mushroom specimens complete with the classic caramel or golden colored cap and white stems. They tend to grow in large clusters, producing large numbers.
