Makilla Gorilla ISO Information

Isolated spore syringes, also known as ISO syringes, contain mushroom genetics that are more stabilized than a normal multispore syringe (MSS). Great care has been taken to isolate the strongest, fastest, and most hardy genetics that will provide vigorous and more consistent research under the microscope. Multispore syringes contain a great deal of genetic diversity, and therefore can present a multitude of different phenotypes. On the other hand, isolated spore syringes have been stabilized in order to present only one phenotype which will provide the most optimized and consistent research. 

Makilla Gorilla is a newer Cubensis variety. It is a hybrid of DC Melmak and APE. Be one of the first to check out and study this new variety that is hardly known to the mycology community. Makilla Gorilla mushroom genetics give the mushrooms larger more aggressive fruits that contain a cap that is convex at the top. The caps are a yellow to gold color that can also have hints of brown throughout. As these mushrooms mature the caps round top open up and flatten out. They expose their gills but don’t drop many spores. Typically, these mushrooms are poor spore providers and don’t leave much of a print. This means that their spores have to be collected via swabbing their gills. So each swab is a hot commodity as they aren’t easily found anywhere else!

Microscopic Features

Makilla Gorilla Spores are dark purple to brownish. The spores are also subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on 4-spored basidia. The caps are 30-50mm in diameter with a convex to little conic shape. Prints are generally not dropped from the cap and they are generally poor spore providers.
