The color of the caps can vary from a golden-caramel color to light brown, or even leucistic! Once they reach full maturity, those bulbous caps will turn a dark blue color.

Bluey Vuitton spores are dark purple to brown and can sometimes also produce albino spores. The spores are also subellipsoid (ellipse) shaped and they are present on 4-spored basidia. They are generally poor spore producers.
